Graduate Development Programme

Discovery’s Apprenticeship Levy Funded OPEN Programme is the best way to accelerate individual development. This 15-month programme develops the skills, knowledge and behaviours of delegates through experiential modules, job-related activities, coaching and feedback. Delegates also carry out structured reflection on their role and study independently online.

Companies are faced with a highly disruptive, digital economy and an extremely challenging jobs market. We believe companies need to look at their talent differently to ensure that business growth isn’t limited by lack of skills and talent or underperformance enhanced through poor leadership.

52% of employers don’t think graduates have the soft skills they expect at the point of hiring citing a lack of resilience and self-awareness [ISE, 2018]. Our programme is designed to develop graduates’ soft skills and business acumen through on-going and hands-on learning.

“The Discovery OPEN Programme is a remarkable offering, one that I believe will make a huge difference to the development, future progression and retention of the individuals attending.”

Jo Shields, Graduate & Future Leaders Manager, BAE Systems

What makes our programme different?

The Discovery OPEN program develops delegates through experiential interventions, exploring behaviours using our experience and long-standing expertise in the graduate market.

The experiential modules (as opposed to classroom-based learning) enable your delegates to experience ‘learning in action’. They are designed to be challenging, exciting, memorable and results-driven, to push the graduates from the start of their career; people remember the emotional experiences.

Working in groups, delegates gain awareness and insight into behaviours and the impact of behaviour on others, and group and individual reflection produces even deeper insight.

For those delegates who successfully complete the OPEN Programme for Graduates as a Level 5 apprenticeship, they can register as full members with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and the ILM. Delegates that have more than three years of management experience can also apply and be assessed for chartered status through the CMI.
