The Mars Tweetshop is back for a second year. The award-winning graduate recruitment initiative is a new and unique way to engage with job seekers.
This year the ‘Hide and Tweet’ competition has already started to attract students and graduates.
The @MarsGradsUK Twitter handle has been tweeting cryptic clues to enable people to hunt for the Tweetshop using Google Maps technology. Students using the #marstweetshop hashtag will receive a code that they enter into the vending machine for a treat and information on the graduate scheme.
The Mars Graduate programme runs across seven areas of business: Management Development, European Finance, European Procurement, Engineering, R&D, Sales and IT. Successful graduates will be able to work in different areas of the business and teach the necessary skills.
Andrew Sharp from Mars UK said: “The aim is to build awareness of the breadth of career opportunities at Mars and start even more meaningful conversations with graduates using social media platforms. Applications for the September 2014 intake to our graduate scheme will close soon – so get your applications in before it is too late.”
Mars won a RAD 2014 award for being the first company to use Twitter in such a way. As a result, many other big names have started similar recruitment drives on the social media platform – including Twitter!
The @JoinTheFlock handle is the Twitter employer account where users will find information on their latest job opportunities, as well as being able to take a look at what goes on behind closed doors.
Perhaps a bigger surprise is that one of the world’s oldest employers, Walt Disney, is also using Twitter to engage with job seekers. @TWDCjobs retweets content from the other Disney accounts and has an excellent hashtag strategy.
Pepsi is yet another company utilising Twitter to attract the best potential employees. @PepsiCoJOBS asks followers to get involved with conversations and find out more about the available career opportunities. It’s also very quick to respond to candidate enquiries.
