Help your new leaders to thrive within the role. Develop their soft skills, commercial acumen and leadership capability to fast-track their progression.

EMBED ACCOUNTABILITY

Help high-potential graduates and early career employees transition into the working world and take accountability for their development & progression.

BUILD SOFT SKILLS

Soft skills are important for every role’s day-to-day activities, but they’re critical for your future leaders and managers. Embed these skills to fast-track your talent.

PREPARE FOR FUTURE ROLES

Your high-potential talent should be your future leaders. Give them the skills, knowledge and behaviours to unlock their potential and flourish in your business.

FLEXIBLE DELIVERY

Run a private, closed programme for your business, or enrol delegates on an OPEN programme with high-potential graduates from other businesses.

Emerging Leaders Programme

The Programme is designed to prepare and cultivate the capabilities of those who are new into or are soon to move into management roles. We provide delegates with essential knowledge, skills and insight to directly improve their effectiveness as a future leader.

For those taking their first steps into leadership and management roles, it’s important we take them on a journey. We start by helping delegates to understand themselves better. From what motivates them, their perceived strengths and weaknesses, right through to analysing and understanding the impact their behaviour may have on those around them.

Throughout the journey, we fully equip them for the future challenges – from having difficult conversations, to positively shaping those around them. Alongside these soft skills, we aim to stimulate and develop a delegate’s strategic and commercial thinking. This helps them to understand their responsibilities to themselves, others and their business, and how they need to develop in order to deliver upon these responsibilities.

Emerging Leaders

Our Programme

When it comes to managing and leading people, there’s no room to make mistakes. For early career and graduate talent, this is even more important as they are likely to have fewer reference points from their past. Our programme is designed like a flight simulator. We provide delegates with the theory to succeed in classroom sessions, and then use experiential activities and business simulations to let them practice.

Our blended learning approach means we use a range of activities to embed learning – from leading on live projects to running a business for the day. We place delegates in real-life scenarios so they can make mistakes, learn from them and then get it right back in your business.

To get the best results for every individual, and provide life-defining change, we take a learner-centric approach. This means we spend time with individuals to focus on their specific development areas. Using peer feedback, 1-2-1 coaching and facilitated meetings (with coaches, delegates & line managers), we get to the core of delegates.

Involving line managers in the process means our programme is fully embedded in your business and development areas can be built into internal development plans. This not only supports delegates back in your business, but it can also support their line managers, too. Involving your internal stakeholders also means that once the programme is finished, delegates have someone on-hand to support them as they continue to learn and develop.

Why Discovery?

The Discovery team are experts in designing and delivering career-defining development programmes for organisations across the UK. We are an approved training organisation for the Association of Professional Sales, an Institute of Leadership and Management approved training centre, active members with the Institute of Student Employers and approved to deliver apprenticeships by the Institute for Apprenticeships.

Aside from all of that, we’re not just a chalk and talk training company. Our goal is to help your people develop so your business has a truly sustainable, competitive advantage. We treat every delegate as an individual so we can give them the eureka moments that will lead to life-defining change.

Nobody said professional development should be easy, but it definitely doesn’t have to be boring! All of our programmes use blended learning and experiential activities to stretch delegates, but in a fun and memorable way. The two most common words delegates use to describe our programmes are ‘challenging’ and ‘fun’. When you’re looking to engage learners, develop their skills and make a long-term behavioural change, we think that’s a great combination.

Who is the programme suitable for?

The Emerging Leaders Programme is perfect for high-potential talent who are relatively early in their management career (such as graduates) and are beginning to take their first steps into managerial roles or are likely to in the very near future.

How can the programme be funded?

The programme can be privately funded by any organisation. Additionally, as the programme is aligned to the ILM Team Operational Departmental Manager Level 5 standard, the programme can be funded using the apprenticeship levy – both for organisations who are levy payers and SMEs using a government top-up.

What is a closed programme?

A closed programme is a way of running the Emerging Leaders programme specifically for your organisation, which allows us to tailor learning and interventions to your business. We recommend cohorts of 10-12 delegates. If you have fewer, it may be more beneficial to enrol your delegates on one of our OPEN Programmes.

What is an OPEN programme?

An OPEN programme is a way of running the Emerging Leaders programme for organisations who have fewer than 10 delegates or want to enrol their delegates alongside others from different businesses.

Enrolling your delegates on an OPEN programme means they will be enrolled on a cohort with delegates from other businesses. This means they will still receive all the benefits of peer learning, and your business will benefit from boosted employee performance for smaller numbers.

Testimonials

Don’t take our word for it – here’s what our clients & delegates say:

As a company we are committed to developing graduate talent; however, like many other businesses, because of our size we are unable to offer a dedicated in-house graduate training programme.

The programme has been a fantastic solution for us – shortly after one of our team completed it, we could already see how it was benefiting both the graduate and the organisation in general. So much so that we signed up our latest graduate for the next programme.

Muntons

Since completing the programme, my line manager & colleagues have seen a huge improvement in my self-confidence & self-assurance. I’ve been able to be more assertive in my role, which has really helped when ensuring my team’s best interest.

Coming from a STEM background, I was slightly sceptical of the soft skills and emotional awareness side of things. Going through the programme, it’s been really interesting to see how psychology plays a key part in people management, and how it’s really important to tap into.
