Assessment Centre Details

Assessment Centre Design

Assessment centres allow you to see candidate capability, stretch and business-fit first-hand. To make sure you can accurately measure this, our experts design both face-to-face and virtual assessment centres.

Using behavioural benchmarking and competency frameworks, we design the day to draw out particular competencies, values or behaviours from candidates to ensure you have the confidence to make job offers.

This includes selecting activities based on the specific role you’re recruiting for – whether it’s business simulations, management role-plays, team activities or individual analysis & presentation tasks – and creating competency-based interview questions that demonstrate suitability for the role.

Assessment Centre Facilitation

A key part of a successful assessment centre is ensuring the day runs smoothly: tasks start on time, assessors and candidates are in the right place at the right time, and everyone has the materials they need.

Our expert team will be on-hand to facilitate the entire day, reducing the input required from assessors and giving candidates a really great experience.

We also provide assessors with training to ensure your process remains consistent, evidence-based and objective.

Face-to-Face Assessment Centres

If you’re looking to run a face-to-face assessment centre, our team are on-hand to support you.

Whether you’re looking to run the day on one of your sites or would like to make use of our Birmingham-based head office, we will help you to run an engaging and robust assessment process.

Virtual Assessment Centres

A virtual assessment centre can be highly beneficial – whether you have assessors and candidates spread across the country, a short time frame to recruit in or there are other external factors to consider, our team can support you.

We have successfully run virtual assessment centres for small groups, across different countries and for large, complicated projects to help businesses to identify the right talent for a role.

Get to the core of your candidates

Evidence-based

When recruiting, it’s easy to rely on past performance. Find the right candidate by seeing their abilities first-hand in line with your competency framework.

Business-specific

Culture and values are at the very heart of a business. Find candidates who share similar values and will protect and enhance your business’ culture.

Role-specific

When you’re recruiting for a position, a good assessment centre will be a highly accurate predictor of the candidate’s likely performance within the role.

Identify behaviours

People are driven by their behaviours, assessment centres draw these out so you can establish if they are suitably aligned with the role & your business.

Identify capability

If you’ve got an empty role, you need to ensure your new hire will hit the ground running and start positively contributing to your business as soon as possible.

Identify stretch

You want to recruit people who will develop in your business and deliver for the future. Identify candidates who have the stretch to drive your business forwards.

Are you ready to improve your workforce?

Client Testimonial

Don’t take our word for it – here’s what our clients say:

Having worked with Discovery previously, I knew they offered Assessment Centres and felt this was the right course of action for a National Sales Manager role we were recruiting for. Not only is an Assessment Centre a good way to identify the right individual for the role, but also, I was conscious that because we’d got three internal applicants (as well as external applicants) at least two of them would be disappointed.

We did have successful internal candidate, and the Assessment Centre was a great way to put together a development plan for the unsuccessful applicants based on the strengths and development areas identified in the assessment centre process. Discovery also provided a lot of feedback for all three, which was really positive.

Not holding the assessment centre wasn’t an option for us; graduates bring so much value to our business. Working with Discovery, you just know that they will come up with a workable solution, which is what they did when building our virtual assessment centre.

The virtual assessment centre really worked for us because Discovery took the time to understand our business and what we wanted. The team worked with us to design an assessment centre that enabled us to identify the right graduates for us, who will go on to play a leading role in our business in the future.

I would definitely recommend this service to others, particularly while face-to-face assessment centres aren’t possible.
