KPMG has been named the top employer for women for the third consecutive year in the Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2015.

The awards are ranked on extensive benchmarking by Opportunity Now; a gender equality campaign for Business In The Community (BITC) during the Responsible Business Week.

Diversity and inclusion in business

Companies that have reached this status have demonstrated gender equality is at the core of its business strategy and values.

KPMG’s three year success for both diversity and inclusion targets have been congratulated alongside recognition of their 2014 statistics which reflected positively on disability, race, gender, sexual orientation and religion within their recruitment.

The Midlands Regional Chairman of KPMG, Mike Steventon, added that diversity and inclusion is high on the business agenda as well as being an issue in society “which we have a responsibility to address”.

Being named the top employer of the year will help the company attract and retain some of the most talented individuals in the market, he added.

Opportunity Now Director Kathryn Nawrockyi added that KPMGs success should “inspire” other employers in the UK to “make a difference, whatever their size or sector”.

Law scores well for female employers

It wasn’t just KMPG that reaped the benefits of their success though as the law sector also did well with such firms accounting for nine out of ten employers

Law firms accounted for nine of the employers listed in the Times Top 50 Employers for Women 2015 with the only the financial services sector reporting a higher rate at 11 firms.

The full list of legal sector firms listed in the Top 50 is:

  1. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer
  2. Obelisk Support
  3. Olswang
  4. Eversheds
  5. Herbert Smith Freehills
  6. Linklaters
  7. Hogan Lovells
  8. Norton Rose Fulbright
  9. Simmons & Simmons

Catherine Dixon, Law Society Chief Executive, said that it was fantastic news to see so many law firms listed in the top employers for women this year.

“We have promoted five phenomenal female lawyers to the partnership this year, which I hope is a sure sign that we are making progress”, she said.
