The Future Is In Our Hands

Workforce planning in uncertain times

Responding to Current Talent Challenges

As business leaders scramble to get a sense of the shape of their organisations going forwards, this global shock has focused their immediate attention on survival mode, shoring up revenues, protecting their people and delivering for their customers. Whilst this is crucial, it is also essential not to lose sight of the long-term

To help organisations through these difficult times, we have adapted our recruitment and training services and commercial options. This will enable organisations to obtain great talent, temporarily or for the long-term, and continue to engage and develop active and furloughed employees.

We are in a time of ‘VUCA’

This environment forced upon us is neatly summed up in the term VUCA, (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous). Drawn from the leadership theories of Bennis & Nanus, it is a term coined by the American military in understanding strategic leadership decisions and the behaviour of groups & individuals at times of VUCA.

Since the UK outbreak of Covid-19, we have seen changes happening daily that affect life and liberty, and what we would associate with ‘normal’ business. However, in any crisis or downturn there are opportunities to re-invent and change course.

We recognise that some organisations:

  • Are struggling with capacity issues caused by workers off sick or self-isolating
  • Have had their recruitment budgets frozen so are unable to increase permanent head count despite having the demand
  • Are turning their attention to how they support their employees, keep them engaged and motivated – particularly those who have been furloughed
VUCA

Ultimately, business trading still needs to happen, and life cannot go on hold. Products still need to be produced; salespeople still need to sell; deliveries still need to happen.

Challenging times like these mean we must all flex, adapt and work together, and business leaders need to look at the pin on the floor and view the horizon at the same time, however difficult this may be.

How will Discovery support customers through this crisis?

Here To Help

In these uncertain times, we have adapted our services to enable you to benefit from the same great talent with commercial flexibility.

TEMPORARY RECRUITMENT

As an alternative to permanent hiring you can now choose to take your graduates on a temporary basis, with zero contract commitment. A perfect solution to solve your immediate capacity issues whilst benefiting from all that graduates bring to a business and, when the time is right, you can simply convert them to a permanent employee.

ZERO RECRUITMENT FEES

For a limited period we are also offering zero recruitment fees for qualifying companies. Please speak with one of our Consultants who can discuss this option with you.

The Virtual World

The Virtual World

As part of ‘the new norm’, more and more processes are taking place online – our services are no different. Get the right workforce in place for your business through virtual training and virtual assessment centres.

If your employees are furloughed or working remotely, they will be returning to work in a much-changed world. Everyone in your organisation needs to come out of this situation smarter, faster and ready to tackle the challenges ahead – so much so, that the Government is actively encouraging organisations to train their furloughed workers.

Virtual training will keep your employees engaged while they’re at home, and ensure they hit the ground running in the aftermath. All of our programmes can be delivered virtually, whether it’s Leadership & Management or Sales Training

If you haven’t got the people in place, recruitment shouldn’t stop! Virtual Assessment Centres allow you to continue recruiting the talent you need – from Apprentices and Graduates, right up to your Mid and Senior hires. We’re providing the same great results, just virtually!

Here’s how our virtual assessment centre helped Avara Foods

Not holding the assessment centre wasn’t an option for us; graduates bring so much value to our business. Working with Discovery, you just know that they will come up with a workable solution, which is what they did when building our virtual assessment centre.

The virtual assessment centre really worked for us because Discovery took the time to understand our business and what we wanted. The team worked with us to design an assessment centre that enabled us to identify the right graduates for us, who will go on to play a leading role in our business in the future.

I would definitely recommend this service to others, particularly while face-to-face assessment centres aren’t possible.
