London’s HR sector has reported a 15% increase in the number of roles on offer in comparison to the same time last year, according to a new report.

The publication, which looked into HR recruitment trends in London, Eastern England and the Midlands, was produced by Badenoch and Clark and yielded numerous findings.

The Q1 report entitled HR Market Insight 2015 also found the most sought-after HR professionals in London are knowledgable about:

  • Employee relations
  • Rewards
  • Benefits
  • Compensation

These skill areas were also sought after in the East of England and the Midlands, along with leadership development and management.

Surge in demand

Executive Director at Badenoch and Clark, Matt Gascoigne, commented that this surge in demand for individuals skilled in rewards and benefits mirrors the increasing concern among employers surrounding employee engagement and retention.

Gascoigne also noted that with the increase in the demand for talent, employers must look to hold onto their key members of staff and top performers by ensuring they have plenty of opportunities.

It has been found that in the Midlands in particular, the increase in demand for experienced HR professionals has expanded as these individuals are viewed as “reliable individuals” who are significant in supporting the delivery of business and strategic objectives.

Improving economy leads to business growth

From the report, it has been found that the number of employers recruiting HR professionals in the learning and development sector has increased 15% in London in comparison to Q1 in 2014.

2015 has seen the improving economy lead to continued business growth across London and this has resulted in increased investment in staff training and wellbeing, according to Gascoigne.

The report also found a staggering 40% increase in the number of HR professionals sought after in the interim space in the capital.
